Omnitek Ultra XR and 4K Tool Box chosen by Mediapro for UHD coverage of Euro 2016 championships in France
BASINGSTOKE, UK July 14th 2016 – Mediapro, the leading technical services supplier to the audiovisual sector in Europe, chose Omnitek’s new Ultra XR Advanced Waveform Analyser and Ultra 4K Tool Box for its ultra-high definition coverage of the Euro 2016 championships in France between 10th June and 10th July.
Mediapro is providing the technical services for the Portuguese state broadcaster RTP as part of an initiative to accelerate new developments to its European audience. RTP will be covering eight matches on a new Ultra HD channel throughout the tournament including the opening game, quarter-finals, semi-finals and the final itself on July 10th at the Stade de France, Paris.
"The Ultra XR is Omnitek’s flagship UHD Waveform Analysis product aimed at post production grading and QC. Alongside its older brother – the Ultra 4K Tool Box, Mediapro will have all bases covered from 4K workflow diagnosis through to colour grading and signal analysis." said Rob Arnold, Vice President of Worldwide Sales at Omnitek.
"Omnitek have been working in the Test & Measurement domain for the past 15 years and our experienced engineers have now developed our 4th generation ‘Ultra’ series of products to address the ongoing needs required in the 4K/UHD domain. The HPA Tech Retreat has always been an important date in our diary and I’m looking forward to answering questions from the always well informed attendees." said Mike Hodson, President at Omnitek.
Omnitek’s Ultra XR provides a sophisticated solution for 4K/UHD content creation, post production and programme QC that follows on from the company’s highly-successful Ultra 4K Tool Box. The Ultra XR offers all traditional Waveform Analysis tools but is engineered specifically with 4K/UHD in mind. Measurement instruments available as standard include a picture display, a true 4K waveform monitor, vectorscope, histograms, BT.709 / BT.2020 CIE charts, pixel data, video timing, audio meters and video/audio/ANC status displays for SD to 4K resolutions. Support is also offered for 12-bit 4:4:4 SDI Y’Cb’Cr’, R’G’B’ and X’Y’Z ‘input formats; ITU-R BT.2020 Wide Color Gamut RGB; ST2084 / PQ High Dynamic Range (HDR) inputs; and Hybrid Log Gamma
Its mature counterpart, the Ultra 4K Tool Box - created to allow manufacturers, broadcasters and systems integrators to build, test and commission 4K products and systems, was the first test & measurement solution into the market with full support for 12G-SDI. Features of the 4K Tool Box include comprehensive 12G Eye & Jitter measurement as well as the ability to capture and play-back full-raster video in all supported video standards.
Both the Ultra XR and the Ultra 4K Tool Box offer support for an impressive array of delivery methods and video formats, covering SD-SDI to 12G-SDI, HDMI and DisplayPort.
“Support for 4K over quad-3G and also 12G-SDI is important to Mediapro to allow us to work alongside existing infrastructure at Euro 2016 - the Ultra XR and 4K Tool Box fit the bill perfectly as they handle all different flavours of 4K interconnects and standards. The analysis tools provided help us check the validity of our incoming signals and that there are no timing issues – which is of concern when using 4K over quad-3G” said Jordi Rubio Gimeno, manager of Media Burst the engineering company of Mediapro group.
