H.264 / H.265 Codec
The use of video compression is widespread in the broadcast, ProAV and home video markets to enable the transfer of video at lower data rates than the original and allow video to be stored on media at acceptable speed.
There are various compression systems that have been developed, initially for SD video, then HD video and now for 4K video. At the forefront of 4K video compression is the H.265 (HEVC) Codec, which offers superior image quality and lower data rates than other codec solutions available today. Omnitek has extensive experience in AV over IP applications using highly efficient H.264 (AVC), H.265 (HEVC) and JPEG 2000 codecs implemented in FPGAs.
The Omnitek Javelin is a turnkey silicon chip solution that allows 2160p60, 4:2:2 HDMI video to be distributed via a TCP / IP network to provide peer to peer extension, multicast and multi-viewer operation using a server / client architecture as a single chip solution. This solution is ideal for 4K KVM and extender applications requiring HDMI 2.0 or 12G-SDI inputs/outputs.
